3. Activities undertaken during this reporting period
To establish more clubs in other areas and discussions took place in some of the areas. We have to abandon one or two areas as majority of people living in those areas are non Christians and continuity of clubs cannot be guaranteed.
To introduce more Projects under Green Activities to improve the environmental pollution.
To introduce more Projects under Green Activities to improve the environmental pollution.
4. Future Activities planned
- To establish 03 more Clubs in other areas which will materialise at the beginning of next Y’s year.
- 02 more Youth Clubs to be established in Bandarawela and Kandy.
5. Challenges
- Establishment of new Clubs are given priority and the members involved have to travel extensively as most of these Clubs are in Central Province.
- Increase in Semester fee due to fluctuation becomes a key factor for recruitment of members at a time when we are on a membership drive. Even the existing members most of whom are pensioners request for a reduction in Semester Fees.
- Sri Lanka being a Buddhist country where only 8% are Christians scattered all over, we have to select our people from this 8% who can afford to pay the International dues.
6. Additional Comments
In future, when nominations are called to any position either in Asia South Pacific or Internationally, such nominee/s should be originated through the relevant Y’s Men International Region, rather than any individual suggesting names on their own accord “(to support trusted friends) to avoid members with no Regional Exposure being elected to certain positions.
