Interim Report for 2018-2019

Austraila Region

Bill Schmidt, RD of Austraila Region

1. Specific Goals during the term

  1. Establish regular contact with new clubs in Perth and Canberra.
  2. Conduct RDE Training.
  3. Review RSD positions.
  4. Conduct AGM meeting in October in accordance with Region Rules.
  5. Contact Y Service Club of Suva to establish if they are still active.
  1. Some difficulty in contacting Perth.
  2. Email Contact with Canberra.
  3. Some RSDs positions changed.
  4. AGM held Oct 6th, AP in attendance.
  5. Suva Club declared dead.
  6. Email sent to interested person in New Zealand with potential to re-start the Nelson Club. No reply to date.

2. Measures to be taken to achieve the above mentioned goals

  1. Establish electronic contact with Perth in addition to email contact.
  2. Liaise with RSD for LTOD to arrange training for RDE. This will take place in Bendigo in accordance with the RDE's request.
  3. In collaberation with Region Secretary advice clubs of dates etc for AGM. Venue may be Y Service Club of Kangaroo Flat Club Rooms. Date will be October 6th 2018.
  4. Liaise with Past RD to establish conatct with Suva.
  1. Perth as above. No response to email sent Oct 2018.

3. Challenges

  1. Ageing membership creates the problem of clubs inability to raise funds in support of International programmes as well as support for local charities.
  2. Encourage RSD's to more actively promote their portfolios emphasis months.
  3. Work closely with RDE towards smooth hand pver of position June 2019.
  1. Progress New Zealand contact. Manage committee on future of YMI in Australia.

4. Future Activities Planned

  1. 2019 AGM to be held on October 5th 2019. Venue TBA.
  2. RDE training to be arranged in the new year locally as requested by RDE.

5. Additional Comments

  1. A committee is to be formed to investigate and report on future of organisation in the Australian Region. This is subject to agreement of clubs as a result of a postal ballot. The outcome of this committee will to some degree toactivities of Y Service clubs in the region.
