STEP & YEEP
Rita Hettiarachchi, ASD-STEP & YEEP
1. Specific Goals during the term
First Memo has been sent to all RSDs/RDs in ASP.
Either STEP or YEEP, possibility of at least 1 in and 1out.
2. Measures to be taken to achieve the above mentioned goals
Each RSD has been reminded to
- promote STEP & YEEP in their respective regions motivating to invite the youth from Y’s Mens’ & Y’s Youth clubs to apply either for STEP or YEEP in order to enjoy and experience the spirit of Y’sdom in the life of Y’s Men families.
- At the same time applicants be reminded that these two programmes should not be considered as “holiday”.
3. Achievements Made
- Koshi Nakamura from Japan West completed his wonderful experience on STEP in August 2018.
- 1 STEP application has been received by Sri Lanka RSD. I have not received it by the time I send this report. Should be on the way.
- Member of Taipei Y’s Youth club made inquiries about the programmes. Hopeful of receiving applications from them.
i) | Kohshi Nakamura to Canada region from 22nd, July to 10th, August and Mr.& Mrs. Todd Robinson/Fredericton EPSILON Y’s Service club kindly looked after him. Nakamura made the presentation at the Kyushu district meeting in September. Says it was good experience for his future activity. Japan West will advise the above report to all their members through the RD report, in order to understand “Step and Yeep” project. |

4. Challenges
Constant communication is KEY.
Frequent reminders are sent if there happens to be a delay in response.
Encouraging STEP/YEEP within the regions.
5. Additional Comments
- When STEP/YEEP applications are received, the feedback is usually good in ASP.
- My concept in using the IBC contacts of the applicant’s sponsor club in finding host families has been quite successful.
6. Motions To Be Considered By MYM
2 motions were moved and approved at ICM 18
