MYM Report for 2021-2022
Green Activity Social Enterprise Project
A Green Activity Social Enterprise Project can have many forms, but significantly, it should:
- be a project that achieves an environmental benefit
- provides a financial return
An example is that Y's Men in Asia-Pacific Area contribute funds that are then used for say, a lighting upgrade and/or the installation of solar PV at a YMCA. The project might cost US$50,000. The YMCA would enjoy savings of say US$10,000 per annum for next 10 to 20 years. The YMCA would repay to the Area the savings achieved over forst 6 years, ie US$60,000. The Area would repay the original contribution by the members, without interest. The Area would achieve a $US$10,000 benefit. This is just an example, many variations exist for this type of project.
Feedback from the Area leadership about the interest in conducting this type of project would be the first step.
Of course other examples could be considered that achieve the two main goals.
