LACM Report for 2021-2022

Australia Region

Report Date: 9 May 2022
Wayne Cameron, RD of Australia Region 2021-2022

1. Share what you consider to be the achievements/highlights of the Region and the Area

The year 2021-2022 has been a difficult one for the Australian Region Clubs. We have lost 1 Club in Ararat Y Service Club due to non contact by the club to frequent requests for payment of Dues.
The decision was made by the Region Executive to cease suporting them and we have removed them from the Regions club list. This decision was not taken lightly but as we received no response from the club for fee payment they were also removed from the Insurance list for members organised by the Region.

However, there were positives that happened throughout the year, these being,
1. A restructure of the Regional Service Directors Roles to address the lack of volunteers for these roles. We reduced the numbers required by combining positions under new portfolios
2. All active clubs continued to meet all International, Area and Region Dues
3. A sum of A$6275 for the IHQ Ukraine appeal was collected and forwarded to IHQ. Some clubs still have to make their contributions before the 31st of May
4 The Region Executive has re-established contact with the Australian/ State Executives of the YMCA and positive progress towards formiming intiatives to restart program support for YMCA Y's Service activities in the Community

2. Membership and Financial Targets & Achievements(as may be applicable)

Given the difficulties that Clubs have experienced in raising funds to meet Local community projects,International ongoing projects and the Ukraine Appeal by IHQ the amounts raised have ben very good and responses positive towards projects.
Even with falling membership memebers continue to support all programs
The amounts raised to 30th April 2022 are,

Time of Fast: $1245

Roll Back Malaria: $530

Brotherhood Fund: $900

Alex Fund: $800

PWA Legacy Fund: $1140 PLUS $5000 Region Donation towards the new headquarters

Ukraine Appeal: $5275 PLUS $1000 Region Donation

3. Outline specific objectives/actions you are proposing for 2022-23

Obviously falling membership is the major issue facing the Australian Region. Hopefully the new connections with the YMCA may help towards devloping different strategies in this case.

4. Indicate topics needing Area or International attention

Aging membership

5. Additional Comments, if any

I would like to thank the Region Executive for all their work over the past two years as we have undergone significant restructure in practical organisation and electronic development.

I would like to wish the new Region Director Leigh Ditchfield all the best and success in his activities for his term of office
