LACM Report for 2021-2022

Golden Opportunities for Leadership Development

Report Date: 3 May 2022
Edward Ong, ASD-GOLD of Asia Pacific Area 2021-2022

1. Share what you consider to be the achievements/highlights of the Region and the Area

The G.O.L.D. programme was introduced and launched since IYC in Taiwan and promoted over 4 years as the youth leadership programme to introduce Youths (children of Members and from the YMCA) to our YMI movement, and leading them to form Youth Clubs, eventually to become full fledged adult Members.  This has progressed and been modified for use at Club leadership level and introduce new Members to YMI at local level.

2. Membership and Financial Targets & Achievements(as may be applicable)

NA.

3. Outline specific objectives/actions you are proposing for 2022-23
Although a date was scheduled at the beginning of the service year 2021-2022, and postponed, it was unfortunate that the AEO could not provide a final date even at the date of this report, despite requests made in my last report and at the last MYM.

It's my recommendation that the G.O.L.D. Programme be  considered seriously and definitely included in the 2022-23 term.
it will surely strengthen and develop elected Club officers and new leaders for the continued leadership proficiency and development of our movement.

4. Indicate topics needing Area or International attention

After an initial training or seminar, Topics could be emailed by ASD-GOLD every two weeks through RSDs/DGs to all Clubs so that they can conduct them at District and/or local Club level.

5. Additional Comments, if any

The new appointed ASD-GOLD must take this into account.
