Report Date: 21 May 2022
David Lua, ASD-EMC of Asia Pacific Area 2021-2022

1. Share what you consider to be the achievements/highlights of the Region and the Area

Membership growth in the ASP Area remains challenging with aging clubs.

However, two regions stood up with good membership growth, namely, the Philippine Region and the SEA Region, both of which achieved more than 20% growth year on year.

3. Outline specific objectives/actions you are proposing for 2022-23

I will be relinquishing my role as ASD-Ext for the year 2022-23

4. Indicate topics needing Area or International attention

The Area should consider awards and incentives for club extension and membership growth. Towards this end, it was proposed to AEOs for the Area to subsidize the charter application fees from YES Fund.  This will be discussed at this ACM.

5. Additional Comments, if any

a. Although more and more countries are gradually opening up and relaxing their restrictions during the past two months due to COVID 19, the absence of face-to-face meetings for membership orientations has undoubtedly affected club extension and membership growth.

b. Incentives such as the waiver of Area dues should continue to help promote a younger membership.

c. Youth programs should be actively promoted to attract young professionals into the membership.

d. I would like to record my gratitude and thanks to the Regional Directors and RSD-EMC for recognizing the need for club extension and membership growth and for their untiring effort toward this objective.
