Report Date: 5 Nov 2021
Edward Ong, ASD-GOLD of Asia Pacific Area 2021-2022

1. Your expectations to make a difference during Jul.-Oct.?-Update on Progress

The G.O.L.D. content is very useful for Youth Clubs as well as younger new members of Clubs, as leadership training on basic skills.

Participants should be able to learn individually or in groups from the materials provided in the International website.  Clubs can use the the programme to attract      young people to become interested in joining for leadership training, social skills and to gain experience working in groups.

2. Steps taken to-date to achieve Goals and Key Target 2021/2022

2.1  Orientation and training on GOLD is postponed to January 2022 in view of emerging priorities and AEO's schedule.  It's also good to start 2022 to recruit new Members and start new Clubs.

2.2  However, each District and Region should feel free to conduct their own training earlier if they are comfortable and familiar with the programme.  Assistance may be requested.

3. Share 1 or 2 Key Activities that have made/will make a difference

3.1  Introduced to Youth Clubs in Lumbini, Nepal and to Myanmar Clubs.  Can be considered also for new Clubs in Indonesia.

3.2  Workshop for ASDs and RSDs on GOLD Programme in January 2022

4. Challenges

4.1  Acceptance of GOLD Programme for group study in small groups whether physically or online due to distance among countries within ASP, even within a District.

4.2  Requires longer commitment and more intense preparation and group work among participants.

4.3  For online study, some students from third world countries may not have access to computers or internet.

5. Additional Comments, if any

Considering awards of certificates for youth who complete the designated programme, as incentive, as these may be considered as additional knowledge or skills in school or for employment.
