Extension - Membership - Conservation

1. Your expectations to make a difference during the term 2021-22

Extension and membership conservation is important for the growth of a service organization to ensure it remains vibrant and rejuvenated.  During Term 2020-21, ASP Area has successfully chartered 8 new clubs with the addition of 143 members.  The momentum must continue into the new term and into new countries wherever feasible.

It is important that Regional Directors take this task of extension a priority and motivate clubs to work towards achieving their goal.

2. Goals and Key Targets 2021-22

Summarized below are the goals given by Regional Directors in their Report.  Figures in brackets from ASD-EMC are additional clubs for RDs to work towards.

        Japan West Region has a target of an increase of 300 members.

3. Key Activities 2021-22

1. To work with RDs in establishing Regional and District Challenge 22 Teams.

2. To share ideas on the benefits of being a Y's Man/Lady and conduct extension and membership conservation training sessions - 4 for the year.

3. To monitor progress quarterly.

4. To attend club charter ceremonies.

5. To promote EBBA and Glocal Clubs.

6. To award Regions and Clubs that extend the most clubs and members.

7. To publicise the availability of Area and YMI funding for club extension.

4. Challenges

  1. It would be a challenge for clubs dominated by senior members to attract younger members.
  2. The unabated pandemic may hinder progress in club extension.
  3. Finding quality members with the right motive in joining.

5. Additional Comments, if any

To help RDs connect with National and local YMCAs to promote club extension.   Will involve ASD-YL for extension work with YMCAs.
