1. Specific Goals during the term
- Plans are being made to form 02 youth clubs in Moratuwa and Kandy.
- Had a successful District Conference representing all the clubs in the South Western District.
- Central Eastern District too had a successful District Conference with participation of Regional Board members.
- Informed all Clubs to increase their contribution under each category.
- Had a Bio Diversity Programme and an awareness programme on Bee Keeping under Green Activities in August 2019.
2. Measures to be taken to achieve the above mentioned goals
- Informed Clubs to increase their contribution.
- Continue to work with the Core Group consisting of RD, RDE,IPRD, and the two District Governors to visit the areas proposed for extension to discuss with the prospective members.
- Plans are made to Charter 02 clubs in next semester, namely Pallekelle and Karachi. (EBB)
3. Achievements Made
- Discussions were carried out with YMCA members to form a club in Batticaloa. Progress of this club was hampered by the recent Easter Sunday Terrorist attack and floods in Batticaloa.
- 02 Clubs will be Chartered in next semester.
- A Beach Clean Project was launched by the Y’s Youth Club of Mt. Lavinia on 11th August 2019.
- Y’s Youth club members donated books to 02 schools in Thirappane and Labunoruwa in Anuradhapura District.
- Y’s youth club took part at the 10,000 tree planting campaign in Urumiwella Estate, Bulathkohupitiya with a contribution of 500 plants in September 2019.
- Recent circular re. BF Grants sent to all clubs in the Region.
- All clubs and Menettes Clubs are continuing with their community service projects, which is their primary objective.
4. Challenges
- Due to increase in Semester dues, as a result of fluctuation of our currency, it is difficult to retain our members most of whom are pensioners. This affects our Extension Plan very much.
- However, we had discussions with prospective members in Pallekelle of the Central/Eastern District and hope to charter this club in next semester.
- We are planning to have another club in Koralawella in South/Western District.
