Interim Report for 2018-2019

Extension & YES

David Lua, ASD-Extension & YES

1. Specific Goals during the term

  1. To charter 7 new clubs, one per region;
  2. Follow up visit to Cambodia and China;
  3. To finalise YES usage policy with AEO;
  4. To publicise YES to Regions

IP's Goal for ASP - 12 new clubs; Goals for new club charters: AU- NIL; JER - 3; JWR - 2; PHP - NIL; SEA - 2; SLK - 5; TWN - NIL. Previous commitments have been made by TWN Region but have not heard from RD.
Total committed by Regions number 12 new clubs. NZ is trying to revive Nelson Club in NZ.

2. Measures to be taken to achieve the above mentioned goals

  1. To email RDs urging appointment of RSD-Extn and YES;
  2. To request RDs to set goals for extension and YES contributions.
  3. To encourage application for YES funding.
  4. To work with YMCAs on extension models;
  5. To attend APAY Exco Meeting in Mar 2019.

Circulated YES New Practice. Not many RDs have responded to YES. Would like to see commitment of RDEs for YES Contribution. Hope to share more at MYM.
Made progress with Tainan YMCA on extension in Cambodia. Also tried to encourage YMCA of Singapore on Uni-Y progressing to YSC.

3. Achievements Made

Two new clubs chartered/to be chartered - JWR - 1 (24 members) & SEA - 1 (17 members). Promoted Y's Men to Shanghai YMCA and Nanjing YMCA.

4. Challenges

Responsiveness and commitment of RDs is critical to achieving the goals.
Responsiveness of RDs continues to be a problem. RSD-E appointed in JER, JWR and SLK (3 out of 7 Regions)

5. Future Activities Planned

Will attempt to disseminate extension materials.

6. Additional Comments

Funding for ASD-E's travels to new countries may be necessary to achieve the goals for extension beyond border.
Will work closely with AP on this.

7. Motions to be considered by MYM

To promote extension as part of RDE Training Program.
