Interim Report for 2018-2019

Alexander Scholarship Fund

Russell Jones, ASD-ASF

1. Specific Goals during the term

As ASD for ASF I will seek to ensure the Area meets the monetary gaols set by the AP.
The goal set by the IP for ASF in ASP is 6,000 CHF. As this represents 10% of the total ASF contributions it means throughout the Area's Regions there would be 54,000 CHF to provide for YMCA staff training.

2. Measures to be taken to achieve the above mentioned goals

In the first instance I will need to establish communication with each of the Area's RSDs for ASF to develope a working relationship. I will then ensure each is aware of the ASF goal for their Region and be in regular communication with each of them to assist them to achieve their goal by at least bi-monthly meetings with each or as a group. I will seek to have positive ASF news items published in the Area's Bulletin.
The goal remains as reported in the previous report. The ISD for ASF, Dagberto Garrido, provided me with a message to share with the Clubs in ASP for the ASF month focus in November. This was passed to the RD's along with the ASF promotion leaflet provided by IHQ. I had to use the RD's as I had not been provided with RSD for ASF details. In my communication to the RD's I asked they provide me with their RSD'S details if they have one. So far Regions Autralia, SEA and Sri Lanka have provided me with their details. I will follow up with those yet to respond.

3. Achievements Made

I have had regular contact with the ISD for ASF and responses from three RD's.

4. Challenges

I had hoped to contact the Area's RD's using the facility offered by the Website but this did not work for me. I have had to take the individual email addresses from the "Family List". The reason for contacting the RD's is to find out if they had appointed an RSD for ASF. It would be useful if RSD appointments were reported on the "Family LIst".

5. Future Activities Planned

I want to receive from each Region how the ASF contributions retained in the Region were used benefit YMCA staff training. I plan to provide details in the Area newsletter to publicise the good stories. Region Sri Lanka have provided the information.

6. Additional Comments

I believe it is important the Area designates Skype or its equivalent that all in any leadership position has access to, to provide face to face access for communication between ASDs and RSDs.
